The news fell recently: Renfe wants to boost its connections to France at the same time as it wants to be an alternative to short flights which are falling more and more in the European Union. And for that, it will start selling trips from Madrid and Barcelona to Lyon, Marseille, Montpellier or Narbonne for prices starting at 19 dollars.
This is very good news for those who like to do whirlwind trips, but we all know what usually happens with tickets sold at this price: There are few of them, they sell out quickly and if there are any tickets left , it is Renfe’s own site that fails. So if you have any of these great deals in mind, we are going to tell you how to prepare so that you can buy them from the iPhone whenever you want.
Prepare to be the first and avoid the unexpected
If what we want is to be able to make the purchase quickly as soon as Renfe announces the availability of tickets (they already claim that they are working against the clock to launch them), we will need to have two things ready:
- The official Renfe app installed on our iPhone. You can download it for free from the App Store.
- A properly configured Renfe account and log in with it.
Once you’ve downloaded the Renfe app, you can log in from the “My Profile” section on the bottom bar of the interface. If you don’t have a Renfe account, you can create one on the fly by clicking ‘Register’:
When registering, you will need to provide an email account and generate a password, as well as an ID and more details to be able to bill these tickets correctly. Registration is completely free
Once this is done, all you have to do is wait for Renfe to start selling these tickets to try to get one. A tip that may also be useful to you is that if you have a Mac handy, also connect to the official Renfe website in case you have problems with your iPhone. The portal has been the protagonist of several falls at times like these, so it is better to be proactive.
