Announced during the last WWDC 2023, the Apple Vision Pro They aim to be the most revolutionary device in Apple history. At least that’s how the few experts who have been able to test them see it. However, talking about a revolution in a product that has not even been launched to the public is risky to say the least. Fortunately, it looks like we’ll soon be able to see for ourselves where what Apple has called its “spatial computing box” and what we also commonly call “mixed reality glasses” is.
Its launch on the market remains a real hieroglyph. Apple had already warned that they would not be released until 2024, but in recent months we have had rumors of all colors pointing to possible delays. NOW one of the world’s best leakers Apple reveals it could be ready in two months. Of course, it doesn’t seem like the idea of launching them only in the United States will change. At least at the beginning.
The Apple Vision Pro is already in production and that makes them imminent
When Mark Gurman, the Apple world trembles. For the best or for the worst. The Bloomberg analyst has good internal sources at the Cupertino company which allow him to provide exclusive information such as that which he has just published concerning Apple glasses.
Its Bloomberg report begins by confirming that production is now “running at full speed”. While a factory entry doesn’t mean an immediate launch, it’s an indication that it won’t be long either. And in fact, according to Gurman himself, there actually isn’t much left.
The analyst says that sources close to the matter They are aiming for a February launch. No date is specified and, logically, there may be variations depending on how the manufacturing process goes, but if everything goes well as this suggests, it is rare for it to suddenly go wrong.
This is how Apple prepares the tests that can be carried out in its stores
Although it’s possible, there’s no need to try out an iPhone today before buying it. Even those who come from Android will know how to do it because ultimately it is a device and a system to which we are already more than accustomed. However, A product like the Apple Vision Pro is far from common these dayseven though there are already products of this nature on the market.
Thus, and again according to Gurman, Apple has an idea of create spaces dedicated to testing the Vision Pro and that due to the particularity of the product, it cannot be present in any area as is the case with an iPhone or iPad. The analyst also highlights how Apple is aware of the need to create new spaces in stores to package product with its different lens sizes and configurations.
Coming back to the tests, Gurman says that next January, at least two employees from each of its stores in the United States will be sent to receive specific training on the Vision Pro. Not so much on how it works itself, but to be able to train as guides, demos given to customers when they are already available in store.
A “quiet” launch with low expectations
It seems contradictory knowing how many years the Vision Pro has been in development, how much trust Apple has in them, and how well it prepares demo areas and yet we call it “quiet and with low expectations.” Gurman also says this based on his sources within the company and in a logical manner.
The two risk factors are the newness of the product and the price of $3,500.. There are still many doubts among the general public about the field of mixed reality and the fact that its cost is high further alienates it from potential customers. Therefore, the company also places particular emphasis on creating good demonstration areas.
So the term “silent” emphasized by Gurman refers to the fact that any possible new features added to the Vision Pro will be announced silently via the web and not at a big event or something similar. As long as we’re talking about minor features, of course, since most of the specifications are already known and there won’t be any variations. See for example certain handicaps such as the autonomy of 2 hours, which will hardly be resolved in this first generation.
Long-term expectations are positive, but in this first generation Few units will be manufactured at first
Likewise, Gurman highlighted Apple’s strategic idea for position Vision Pro in the business and education sector. Their products have traditionally had a good influence in both areas and they believe that the same can happen with the Vision Pro, although they also remember the attempts of Microsoft and other companies to “sneak” devices from this guy without success.
His international arrival remains a mystery
One of the most important aspects that concerns us about the Vision Pro is when we will be able to test them in USA and other countries outside the United States. Gurman fails to mention this, suggesting that Its international arrival is far from guaranteed for 2024. In fact, we don’t know if it will eventually happen.
Anything can happen and the Vision Pro will be marked as one of the company’s great historical failures without seeing a second generation. However, the precision demonstrated in Cupertino about the future of this product and its usefulness does not make it likely. The arrival of new generations in USA is therefore not excluded.
The closest example in time was found 16 years ago, when the original iPhone launched. It followed a similar path, presenting itself at the beginning of 2007, launched in the middle of the year and with an international launch that, at least in countries like USA, never took place until the arrival of the second generation. Whether the Vision Pro could follow a similar path is something that cannot be ruled out at the moment.
