Samsung is the manufacturer that currently bets the most on foldable mobiles, although the company itself hopes that this will soon change with the arrival of competitors who will make things difficult for it. We are already seeing some of them, like the striking Xiaomi MIX Fold 2, with a lower price tag.

This will force Samsung to introduce important changes and improvements in its devices to be competitive, especially if it wants to continue betting on the highest ranges. It is therefore not surprising that it is already developing new technologies.
Samsung’s two-screen mobile
The latest patent published by Samsung and discovered by Sam-Mobile reveals one of these possible innovations, with which it can stand out from other manufacturers: a second screen, integrated into the back of the mobile to display information and quick access to functions. Now, this isn’t exactly anything new; Samsung itself already has the Galaxy Z Flip, a model with a small screen that does just that; It offers us limited access to certain functions, in addition to serving as a viewfinder for the cameras to take a selfie.
The concept proposed by Samsung is not very different from that of the practice; the real difference is in the implementation. Instead of simply incorporating a conventional second screen, the Samsung patent describes a device with a transparent screen capable of being partially lit; for example, to display content on only part of the screen.
Therefore, the entire back of the device would be a screen, which could only be turned on in a specific part to display information. Among the examples shown by Samsung there is the possibility of the screen displaying a frame with our face to easily take a selfie, or direct access to functions directly from the back of the mobile.
Another curious detail is that the Samsung brand logo would not be engraved on the back of the mobile as usual, but would be displayed on the screen and could therefore change size and position as we wish. It is also possible that the screen will display custom graphics, so that we could have a different mobile design every day, for example.
For now, it’s nothing more than a patent and it doesn’t mean that Samsung is going to implement it in a mobile; it’s just that their engineers came up with this idea and worked on it, but from there to making it a reality, there’s a stretch and it doesn’t always happen.
