Very similar, although with some “pluses” on the screen and performance for the ’40 SE
Visually we can check how the TCL 40 SE and TCL 408 they share a good part of their essence when it comes to design and which in turn is also similar to that of the well-known TCL 40R 5G. In this case, their differences lie in the camera module due to the incorporation of an additional sensor in the ’40 SE’ and in the colors, since it comes in black and purplewhile ‘408’ does in black and blue.
Ahead we meet two 6.75 and 6.6 inch LCD panels respectively. Both screens offer HD+ resolution and as main differences, apart from the size, we are surpr ised that the TCL 40 SE offers a 90Hz refresh rate
As for the processor, both come with Mediatek brain thanks to the manufacturer’s budget range chips, which leaves the TCL 40 SE with a Helio G37 and the TCL 408 with a Helio P22. They accompany you smartly 4 and 6 GB RAM memories in the case of the ’40 SE’while in the ‘408’ we only find the 4 GB option. Looking at storage capacity, the former comes with 128 and 256 GB expandable to 1 TB with Micro SD card, while in the other we find lower capacities of 64 GB expandable to 512 GB.
In the battery is practically identical with 5,000 mAh, although technically the TCL 40 SE would have 5,010 mAh, which should not change the story much. Both bring USB-C, which is positive, but without fast charging as it is the USB 2.0 standard.
On paper, they aim to have identical cameras. For selfies, we found a 8 megapixel front camera and if we turn them over we end up with a 50 megapixel main which is accompanied by a 2 megapixel depth sensor. The main difference lies in the 2 megapixel macro lens of the ’40 SE’ and that the other model does not have.
Other points to note are that both come with fingerprint sensor on the side. And as far as software is concerned, these terminals integrate TCL’s own personalization layer called TCL UI 5.0 and which is based on Android 13.
Versions and prices of the TCL 40 SE and TCL 408
At the moment, these devices have not been officially launched. From TCL they announce that will arrive in Europe in the next few months. It will be then when we know in which versions it is offered and at what price, although everything indicates that they will be very cheap models according to the range of specifications they manage. As soon as we have this information, we will update this article.
