The importance of a good internet connection is one of those things we don’t realize until we start noticing that everything is slower. YouTube or Netflix videos may take a while to load, or we may have lost a multiplayer game due to lag or delay. One solution is to buy a new WiFi router, although depending on our devices, that may not be the only thing we need to do.
Today, Asus introduced its new line of ROG Series connectivity products, and they all have in common that adopt the new WiFi 7 standard. As usual, this version comes with higher transfer rates, although the difference is really noticeable in network management and efficiency, allowing more devices to be connected and reducing packet sending times.
Of the three new products, two are routers, but perhaps the most interesting is the ROG USB-BE92, because can eliminate a “bottleneck” very common. And there is no point in buying a WiFi 7 router if our computer is only capable of using WiFi 6 or worse, it has remained in WiFi 5. This is a very common situation, even if we recently bought a gaming laptop.
The USB-BE92 is a USB adapter that adds WiFi 7 connectivity to our computer desktop or laptop, instantly improving your network connection and allowing you to enjoy the speed of any router, regardless of its age or the standard it uses. Specifically, this USB is capable of reaching transfer speeds of 6,500 Mbps when connected to a WiFi 7 router.
This transfer rate is much higher than what you can get with a conventional laptop today, so it may be worth using one of the USB-A or USB-C ports (both are supported) for this device. The key is to use the 6GHz band for less congestion and interference, achieving performance up to 3.6 times faster than WiFi 6. Otherwise, it has the usual security measures such as WPA3. The USB-BE92 is compatible with Windows 10 and Windows 11 systems
Moving on to the new routers presented by Asus, the ROG Rapture GT-BE19000 is a premium gaming model, with an imposing design that includes a transparent window that allows you to see part of the internal components. The design is not only designed to attract attention, but also to improve performance; the new heat dissipation, for example, reduces temperatures by 18% to allow the chips to operate more easily at maximum performance.
The router is surrounded by no less than eight antennas, which allow connection to the 2.4 GH, 5 GHz or the new 6 GHz bands of WiFi 7; With the latter, it is capable of reaching speeds up to 2.4 times faster than with WiFi 6, no less than 11,529 Mbps, in addition to obtaining maximum performance with the rest of the standards if our equipment is not yet compatible. It also has physical ports that allow transfers of up to 20 Gbps via cable.
But perhaps the most curious feature is Guest Network Pro, a “gaming network” that, once activated, allows you to add up to five devices that can be managed to prioritize their packets (for example, to improve connectivity in our games) . in addition to adding Internet of Things devices or setting up a private VPN.
Finally, the ROG RT-BE86U is a more basic router model, but it can be a good entry point to access WiFi 7. Although it does not reach the same speed as the more expensive model, this router should be a notable improvement over the WiFi 6 models, reaching 6,800 Mbps, maintaining compatibility with current standards. Its vertical design is also simpler, but suitable to take up less space on the table.
The price and availability in Europe of all these devices are data that have not yet been confirmed by Asus.
