Good news for everyone reading it from Mexico. Some iPhone users in the country have been able to keep Banregio bank credit cards on the Wallet application, and have settled it with Apple's payment service. It's a sign that Apple Pay may be close If there is no official announcement we assure you.
Banregio cards worked, but only temporarily
One of the first to find it was Twitter user Juan de Santiago, who posted some screenshots showing his card could be added to Apple Pay. Obviously you had to show the United States as a region, even though the payments are fully functional Mexico:
I guarantee you accept it #AppPay
card #BanRegioOnly region should be from USA 🇺🇸
At the call center they make sure it can be used on MX. pic.twitter.com/bykK7yekko

Either Apple or the bank should react immediately, because other users have tried to do the same with their cards and it no longer works for them:

It might be a simple test, or we may have found out that Apple is close after launching Apple Pay in Mexico only with Banregio or shared with another popular business country We will listen closely, in the same way as we await the arrival of the Apple Card across the United States.
Mexico is a country where credit cards are widely used in everyday purchases, so Apple Pay can find a good base of users among those with an iPhone. We will see how the market responds.
