What, for many, would eventually happen sooner or later has just become reality for Apple. As posted this week, China sued Apple for not including the charge in the iPhone box. A decision that those of the bitten apple have implemented since 2020, as a measure to reduce the environmental impact of the manufacture of their devices, and since, it has caused some trials in Brazil and France
According to information shared by 9to5mac, the lawsuit was filed by a group of Chinese students filed a lawsuit against Apple, requiring the company to provide a charger for an iPhone it has purchased. They also claimed that Apple used the reduced carbon footprint as an excuse to promote its MagSafe charger.
China is the third country to sue Apple for not including the charger
The group of students appeared in court and asked Apple to provide a wall charger for a purchased iPhone 12 Pro Max, pay 100 yuan, 13.4 dollars, for breach of contract and cover legal fees. Of course, if the legal request is granted, the ruling would apply not only to iPhone 12 users, but also to iPhone 13 and later models.
This case against Apple has as a precedent two lawsuits in other continents. In Europe, France was the first to demonstrate against this measure, and Apole was forced to continue supplying EarPods and a charger to comply with safety laws. While in Brazil, Apple fined $ 2 million “for false advertising, sale of a device without the charger and unfair terms “.
