Today is the day we’ve been waiting for, the day of Google’s biggest hardware event. Made by Google will be the occasion to present the new Pixel 9, with important new features in all aspects and a renewed commitment to AI-based functions. But that won’t be the only thing that will be presented.
Google will also be showing off new wearables, including the new Pixel Watch 3 with a new size and new displays. And now, just hours before the event, another device that will have everyone talking has been leaked: the Google Pixel Buds Pro 2
In fact, Google will take advantage of this to renew its best wireless headphones, and although the leak suggests that the design will be very similar to that of the first generation, in all other aspects they will be very different and improved; although this may be accompanied by a price increase.
The leak comes from someone who has been a regular these weeks, @MysteryLupin in X. According to the data he shared, the Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 will have a charging case very similar to the first generationalthough design changes are visible in the headphones.
Where they will really improve will be on the inside, with more powerful and comprehensive functions thanks to the use of a new Tensor A1 chipThis is the first time we’ve seen Tensor branding on earbuds, though previous Pixel Buds Pros already had a Google-designed chip that didn’t use the branding.
The Tensor A1 will be responsible for performing functions such as active noise cancellation, which is said to be twice as powerful compared to the previous generation. Th is chip is also expected to enable new advanced features, although the leak only reveals two: “conversation detection”, the details of which have not been revealed, and connection with multiple devices at the same time.
Like Apple’s AirPods Pro, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 will reportedly be able to connect to your phone, tablet, and watch simultaneously, and switch between them automatically depending on which device is playing audio.
The price of the Pixel Buds Pro 2, according to the leak, would be 249 dollars, which would mean an increase of 30 dollars compared to the price of the current Pixel Buds Pro. The question is therefore whether the new functions and the use of its own processor compensate for the price increase, and Google will have to convince users today.
