Android’s stock of pre-installed apps makes life much easier as long as you have the software needed for core tasks at hand, but there is life beyond Google and in some cases it’s better. Even though I was moderately satisfied with Google Chrome and had tried other very interesting alternative browsers, in the end I always ended up going back to the default one. Until I installed this free, fast and clean browser on my Android and I don’t want to go back to Google Chrome anymore.
Why Soul Browser convinced me
It’s called Soul Browser, it has a rating of 4.4 out of 5 on the Google Play Store and is available for free. Once you have installed the application on your mobile and opened it, you can start using it without much mystery since apparently it is a very minimalist and intuitive browser
Thus, it has the classic search field in the upper area, the star of favorites, refresh, forward and backward, access to home, opening of windows… the clearest icons so that you always have in mind what you are going to do even before pressing them. But this feeling of lightness is not only present in its appearance, but also in navigation, as it moves smoothly between websites. It happens like a shot.
I mentioned the main icons above, leaving one for later because it is its great asset: the long list of available functions. If you tap the three horizontal lines in the upper right corner, a surprise arrives in the form of a huge utility drawer.
In fact, the first thing you will find when opening this drop-down menu is a red shield with a number: they are the ads you blocked. It is enabled by default, but you can disable it if you like and also customize it with various ad filters, allow or prohibit images, configure whitelist and exceptions. The truth is that with the basics you can find out. However, if you are a person who is jealous of your privacy, it has advanced security features to avoid tracking or incognito mode.
Other things you can do right away are translate the website with the touch of a button and without resorting to external applications, switch from text to audio to listen to the podcast style of the web page, share for play with Chromecast, save the page or turn it. switch to PDF, view only images and download them, switch to full screen, switch to one-handed operation mode, switch between mobile mode or desktop mode.
The previous ones are interesting, but my favorites are the functions which allow, the video player with subtitle support (ideal for the tablet), to directly download videos and the edit images directly from the browser. And that’s without going into the settings options, where you’ll find a cleaning mode or different models to choose from according to your preferences. In fact, the fact that it is so complete and customizable implies a handicap: to get the most out of it, it is necessary to revise it thoroughly.
It is surprising to see everything it offers without any limitation or premium blocking because as I mentioned above the application is free, but it has a side B: from time to time you can find another ad, so if you want to get rid of it completely you will have to pay a single payment of 1.59 dollars. I haven’t done it and so far the experience is more than good.
