A YouTuber took it upon himself to create his own version of Apple Vision Pro, he succeeded but not in the best way
Yes, you read that right, a user got involved in building a homemade Apple Vision Pro and although he achieved his goal, The end result looks so terrible that maybe seeing it doesn’t make you want to try it.. Perhaps this is the reason why Apple wants the end user to pay an amount of around $3,499 for all the technology inside. This YouTube user, Basically Homeless, used parts and components he had at home as well as a user who sponsored the video and provided one of the elements for this experiment.
I managed to build an Apple Vision Pro and it looks like Frankenstein
You really have to see the build from scratch and see how it interacts with the prototype he built based on Vision Pro. to understand the following lines. Everything was born thanks to A computer was configured with Windows 11 and used as the brains to act as visionOSprecisely because of hand tracking and head movement.
The Vision Pro attempt is totally uncomfortable, that’s not to say the original Vision Pro isn’t, but it’s really hard to get around with what this guy has built. He used a type of headset to which a monitor, video camera, among other elements, is connected.
Once assembly is complete and first use, manages to interact with the system through the hands. Enter Google Chrome, move the window around as you normally would on a computer and nothing else. We think being able to interact with Windows via gestures is something well done., this is not something that can be done normally. The camera ultimately functions more like an animated wallpaper than the immersive reality it was trying to reproduce.
These tests will no longer be seen or attempted when Apple Vision Pro becomes cheap
The next generations of Vision Pro are expected to be cheaper so that more users have the opportunity to be part of the new spatial computing. It is known that EyeSight is one of the most expensive technologies in the device, among others, we can see them absent in a low-cost generation.
So far, progress with Vision Pro is promising. The last big activity seen online was hosting a gaming session thanks to a group of friends who played Call of Duty remotely while using the new Space Persona feature.
In more professional aspects, we have seen that Apple is betting a lot on the use of its technology in medicine and health, to reduce human errors in operations; also and for all those who are dedicated to architecture, interior design, among other activities. Hopefully in this WWDC 2024 we will see more visionOS advancements and some hints about a next generation of Apple Vision Pro.
