It’s been in development for a few months and is heading towards its stable market release with some private betas where we were able to test it thoroughly: The Division Resurgence is an excellent cooperative shooter that maintains much of the playability and quality which we have already seen in its previous console and computer. We checked it in our Android.
Ubisoft has brought a good part of its franchises to smartphones: from the now legendary Rayman to Brawlhalla. And there’s one that was still in development and raised expectations: The Division. How will they have transposed post-apocalyptic war scenarios to mobile screens? The result is The resurgence of divisiona title that will arrive very soon on Android and iOS.
A slightly cut, but recognizable The Division
With the shift to mobile screens, each game is likely to change in quality, complexity, and length to suit the needs of the touchscreen. In the case of The Division, Ubisoft is reducing the number of options for create a touchscreen shooter that follows in the footsteps of other greats in the mobile genre. Without losing the basic essence, at least as we verified in the tests.
The Division Resurgence is a game created entirely for mobile platforms in which the controls are adapted to the obvious requirements of their screens. The gameplay is maintained by dint of partly reduce the complexity of movements and combat options. Although most of what makes The Division The Division remains: fast-paced shootouts with arsenals of weapons, exploration through a city devastated and conquered by factions, the game retains a huge component of strategy and features multiplayer to not only act in cooperative mode, also in PvP.
The game introduces an all-new story that helps understand the events taking place in The Division 1 and 2. The getting started tutorial makes it easier to get the controls, so no prior experience with any of the games on other platforms is necessary. This makes it easier to experience having played either of The Division.
Third-person shooter on a completely open world, impressive arsenal at our disposal, “crafting” options to customize the protagonist and, according to Ubisoft, A full AAA experience in mobile-friendly HD. Our first impressions are not that high, but, without a doubt, this The Division for mobile phones is aiming for high standards.
Vibrant and with the incentive of multiplayer modes
It is not as complete as a The Division for computer or console, nor does it offer all the richness of exploration and tactical approach that Ubisoft includes in desktop games. Even so, The Division Resurgence retains the essence of the franchise to satisfy not only fans of the genre, but also those looking for a mobile shooter that isn’t solely shooting-based (although that’s one keys).
Currently, Ubisoft is maintaining a closed beta with active servers until December 22. The jump we saw between the first beta and the current one can be seen in the graphics and in the fluidity of the game: it exudes visual richness without requiring maximum mobile power.. We played smoothly on a Nothing Phone (1) with the settings set to low quality: resolution and detail were at a very good level. Graphics improved in medium quality without noticing any overdone difference.
We still have to wait for the Resurgence Division to reach the whole world: Ubisoft maintains 2023 as the year of release. This, yes, there is the possibility of accessing upcoming tests: just go to this registration link.
