It was also found in one of the beta versions of WhatsApp for Android 2.21.14.6 that they were working on setting up and selecting the quality for sending video, this meant that they could already be send better quality videos.

According to the WABetaInfo report, the available quality options are:
- Auto (recommended): WhatsApp detects which is the best compression algorithm for specific images.
- Best Quality: WhatsApp will send the image with the best quality available.
- Data saver: Compression is enabled when data saver is enabled in Android settings.
The release date of this new feature is not yet known, as it is still in development and is only available to members of the WhatsApp Betas group
