If there is one essential application to install when changing phones, it is WhatsApp. And once you have the app, you need to recover your conversations and for that you will have to resort to a backup saved in the cloud. But if you have an android phonemigrating your WhatsApp conversations will soon be a simpler procedure that doesn’t require backups or cloud storage.
You change your phone or restore a factory phone and the first thing you need to do is recover our backup of applications such as WhatsApp, so that neither the messages nor other elements such as images, videos, audio and voice notes that we have shared and received in our chats are lost.
Until now, this meant making a backup beforehand and setting it up in cloud services like Google Drive or iCloud for iOS. This feature came to Android in 2021 and in 2022 WhatsApp introduced its iPhone counterpart through the “Move to iOS” app. These procedures are particularly useful for transfer large amount of WhatsApp data between Android and iOS and vice versa
Transfer Chats from Android to Android, Easier
As collected by WABetaInfo, the Meta messaging app will introduce a feature called “Chat transfer to Android” integrated into the menu of Settings > Cats (just above where the save option currently is).
Considering this screenshot from WABetaInfo, WhatsApp would not eliminate the cloud backup option
That the two functions coexist makes sense: think for example that you no longer have your phone, for example because it suffered an accident, you lost or stole it and you buy a new one, in which case , you would have to resort yes or yes to your last backup.
According to WABetaInfo, this function is in the development phase, so there is still no date scheduled for it to arrive first in beta and then officially. In any case, for the moment, it would be unique feature between Android phones.
