We are only a few months away from seeing the all-new iPhone SE 4. It will be three years after the last model launched in 2022, and although we can already guess from its series that it will not bring high-end innovations, we know that This will be a revolutionary model within the ‘SE’ range for all the changes this will bring.
The new iPhone SE 4 will look nothing like its predecessors. Neither the iPhone SE 3 nor the iPhone SE 2 which shared a design and even less the original iPhone SE launched in 2016 imitating the design of the iPhone 5s. And the best thing is that will bring extremely interesting internal changes and that will put it on par with the newer models in terms of performance.
iPhone 16 looks like, iPhone 16 doesn’t
Saying that the iPhone SE 4 will be identical to the iPhone 16 isn’t accurate, but it’s close to reality. The leaked cover makes it clear elements shared in terms of dimensions
This brings us to a forward design whole screen something we’ve never seen before in an “SE”, with a 6.1-inch OLED panel at 60 Hz (if even the iPhone 16 Plus doesn’t reach 120 Hz, we expected the ‘iPhone SE 4 either). On the sides we would have straight edges, although slightly stylized like the iPhone 15 did in its day to improve grip. On the back, there will be glass and a single camera, although we’ll talk more about that later.
Of course there will be two resignations concerning the iPhone 16 and 15. Two resignations that will make it look more like an iPhone 14. These are the non-incorporation of the camera control button that debuted in the last generation, as well as the action button that we encountered in 2023. The iPhone SE 4, barring any surprises, according to leaks, the ever-iconic switch to mute the device will still be present.
An A17 Pro is the worst you can expect inside
“The cheapest iPhone with Apple Intelligence support” is a great claim that Apple could use, even if it’s not literal. Whether or not Apple’s AI comes to Europe, it’s clear that’s where its current focus is. And as we saw with the new iPad mini 7, all new Apple devices will be compatible with it.
Considering the requirements established by the brand, two elements are required: 8 GB of integrated memory and a chip that, at least, is the A17 Pro that the iPhone 15 Pro once mounted. It is therefore to be expected that the iPhone. SE 4 starts with this processor. Even an A18 or A18 Pro is not excluded, which is the most recent that the manufacturer has, but we already know that its performance will not be in doubt.
Just a camera and run
The iPhone SE range does not seek to be a leader in photography. Therefore, we should not expect huge advances in cameras and even less a set of lenses identical to those of the latest iPhones. In fact, what is expected is that bring a single software-powered camera and that you can thus obtain photographs with styles such as portrait.
The big question is whether If they bet on a 12 or 48 megapixel sensorgiven that the latter is the one that is already applied in the latest generations of iPhone, but it is not excluded that a 12 sensor is opted for. It is true that there must be some reduction for this range, even if our intuition (and we emphasize that it is only intuition) makes us predict that they will have enough cut by eliminating a second and a third lens, so adding a 48-megapixel sensor seems the most reasonable.
How, we know. When we feel
We more or less already have a drawing of what the iPhone SE 4 will look like, although it’s missing something fundamental: its release date. This device has been around for a long time and, although there were even rumors about its arrival this year, everything now points to March-April 2025.
This will be one of Apple’s usual spring releases. It is unclear whether this was done through a press release or an event. In the latter case, it could be accompanied by other devices such as the iPad of 2025. In any case, it will not exceed these dates because we already have estimates of entry into production for these next few months.
