More than 2 billion people use WhatsApp, and one of the consequences of having so many users is that not only our family, friends and colleagues communicate with us through this platform, but also companies, businesses and unknown numbers.
Often we ignore message notifications when we are busy, so at the end of the day dozens, even hundreds of messages could have accumulated between individual and group chats. If you’re like me, you might find the pending notifications for these messages annoying, but WhatsApp will soon have a quick solution to say goodbye to these notifications.
WhatsApp will let you delete pending message notifications with one tap
Technically, it’s actually two taps, one to access WhatsApp’s options menu and another to delete all unread message notifications. This new feature was discovered by WABetaInfo in the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android (version 2.24.18.11), and its operation promises to be as simple as it is effective.
HAS delete all unread message notifications In WhatsApp we will have to follow these steps:
- We press the three-dot button in the upper right corner
- Then click on “Mark as read”
So, all those green dots next to the cats will disappear on WhatsApp that indicate that there are messages waiting to be read. However, we must remember that with great power comes great responsibility: if we mark all pending messages as read, we could miss an important message.
This feature will be very useful for have the WhatsApp chat window more organizedwithout countless unread message notifications, a common problem for users in very active groups. With this button, we can eliminate all notifications in a few seconds, without having to enter each chat individually. There is already a way to reset the unread message counter in Groups, but it is a bit hidden.
This new feature is still in development and we hope to bring it to all app users in a future update.
WhatsApp is also working on another way to reset the unread message counter, automatically deleting all notifications every time we enter the app. However, the new method offers us more control, since we can eliminate notifications only when we want and not every time we open the app to reply to a specific message.
