How easy it is to create an account to use certain applications and how difficult it is to delete it sometimes. But this practice promises to be much easier thanks to Google’s new requirement for its app store. And it is that with this standard that Google has imposed on the applications present in the Play Store, controlling and protecting the privacy of user data will be an easier task.
As announced in a blog post, in the near future all the applications present in the Google Play Store for which you must create an account
Delete your account and data in all your apps
For apps that allow the creation of app accounts, developers will soon have to provide option to initiate account and data deletion from app and online. This web requirement, which you (the development teams) will link to in your data security form, is especially important so that a user can request account and data deletion without having to reinstall an application.
And it is that in the field of “data security” it is not only possible to see what data the applications store, but also it also provides options to delete them
The idea is the following: when a person executes the request to delete the account, they will also have to delete the data associated with this account. What if you just want to disable it temporarily? You can then choose to keep them and delete the data you want (for example, activity history, images or videos). If for legitimate reasons, such as fraud prevention or regulatory compliance, the app needs to store certain data, then it should clearly specify what it stores and why.
Although this news was published a few hours ago, will not have an immediate effect. Thus, Google provides a certain margin so that the development teams have time to comply. Thus, at present the implementation of this practice is in the phase of doubts and interrogations (until December 7). In early 2024, that will be when users start to see changes reflected in each app’s Play Store tab, especially in the Data Wipe badge in the Data Security section and the new Data Wipe area.
