The legendary bio-exorcist judges Beetlejuice 2, good or bad?
Beetlejuice 2 wrapped filming a few months ago and the film is currently in post-production. The final step before its release in French cinemas on September 11, 2024. Tim Burton already has a first version in his possession with which he wanted to share it Julien Lepers Michael Keaton. The actor who gave full substance to the character in the 1988 cult film. And unlike his role in The Flash, where he initially understood nothing about his return as Batman, here everything seems to be going well and he loved his role watching Beetlejuice 2. I saw it [Beetlejuice 2] ! And I’ll watch it again after it’s edited in the editing room. I can confidently say that this film is great. The original was so funny and visually gorgeous. This also applies to the sequel, but it is also very beautiful and very moving. I wasn’t ready for it. It is great !

For now, Michael Keaton is proud of Beetlejuice 2 and the work that was done for this sequel. A logical statement, and the opposite would have been more surprising. But what if the actor was right beyond the marketing aspect? Practical effects instead of excessive CGI
Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, the official name of this sequel is “brilliant and moving” According to Keaton, he strives to be as authentic as possible. How ? By creating scenes by hand the old-fashioned way, abandoning computer-generated imagery in favor of practical effects. An element that undoubtedly plays a role in Michael Keaton’s appreciation of this second part.
The only thing we agreed on very, very early on was that if we were going to make Beetlejuice 2, I definitely didn’t want to make a film with too much technology. It had to be done by hand. What was fun back then was seeing someone in the corner think something was you. Looking at everyone in the waiting room [ndlr : la séquence où la tête du personnage rétrécit] and saying to yourself, “There are people underneath who make these things work, who try to do things well.” That’s the most interesting thing. When you can do that again after years of standing in front of a giant green screen and pretending someone is standing in front of you, it feels great.
