To whet fans’ nostalgic nerves, the Xbox Series welcomes new free content that pays beautiful homage to the brand’s golden age.
This new free content for the Xbox Series is likely to please fans of a bygone era of the brand, albeit with a certain bittersweet note, given that it recently turned this iconic page in its history.
New free content full of bittersweet nostalgia for Xbox Series
Microsoft has therefore provided a new dynamic background, available for free for its Xbox series. More specifically, it uses the iconic interface of the cult Xbox 360, whose tabs are called “blades” in English. In many ways, the big sister of Microsoft’s next-gen consoles is considered by many to represent a golden age long gone. Despite the famous Red Ring of Death, the console has clearly popularized online multiplayer and welcomed legendary games such as Halo 3 or Gears of War 1 and 2.
Unfortunately, all that is definitely a thing of the past. The timing of the release of this dynamic background full of nostalgia for the Xbox Series is indeed strange, to say the least. Remember that the Xbox 360 online store, Xbox Live Arcade, will close its doors on July 29. It will therefore not have time to celebrate its 20th birthday, since it was launched on November 6, 2024. However, fans of that era still have a few days to have the illusion of playing the Xbox 360 once again before that fateful date.
The remains of a past glory?
After July 29, only that dynamic background on the Xbox Series remains to remind us of the good old days. The Xbox One, unfortunately, did not enjoy the same aura. Unfortunately, Microsoft’s latest generation of consoles seems to be following the same path. The blame lies with a strategy focused on the Xbox Game Pass rather than on hardware sales, which is now showing clear signs of weakness, marked by mass layoffs and studio closures, as well as a policy of exclusivity that is gradually crumbling.
However, the latest Xbox Games Showcase promised us that there are great things to come on Xbox Series – but also on PC. Will this be enough to send this ship in conflicting directions and inevitably take on water? Only time will tell, and we hope it will be bright for the X-brand.
