The GTA 6 hacker is currently in the midst of an attempt, but a last-minute twist turned everything upside down. what will happen now
GTA 6 fell victim to a massive hack in September 2022 that caused a veritable earthquake throughout the industry. As a result, numerous leaks appeared on the net and players all over the world were able to discover the game before its time. The hacker, a young man who was underage at the relevant time, was arrested relatively quickly. It must be said that the latter was already “known” to the police since he belonged to the small group Lapsus$, a hacking group. The teenager is currently on trial with more than a dozen charges spread over several years, and the trial has taken an unexpected turn.
The lawsuit needs water?
Rockstar hacked with disclosure of confidential information and extortion. Uber hacked with approximately $3 million in damages. Stealing sensitive information from more than 5,000 customers in the hack at financial firm Revolut, or even demanding a ransom of more than $4 million from a British telecom company… the now 18-year-old teenager has an arm-length resume.
Also serious allegations. It is only here, after passing in front of the psychiatrists, that it turns out that he is obviously unable to take his verdict. The jury can therefore only decide whether or not he participated in the alleged crimes. Under no circumstances can the young man be considered guilty or innocent. So he should get away with next to nothing if it’s nothing at all. His 17-year-old pal, on the other hand, won’t be so “lucky” and will be brought to justice for his crimes, even though he obviously wasn’t involved in all of the hacks.
And GTA 6 in all this?
Very bad news for Rockstar and the other companies who, despite the damage, blackmail and intrusion into their systems, apparently cannot get any compensation. At the time, Take-Two had claimed that no sensitive data would normally have left the nest, although the hacker apparently claimed the opposite, claiming to have the source code for the game and GTA 5. However, the parent company said it would follow the case very closely and beef up its security systems very quickly.
As for GTA 6, the game had been receiving bad publicity by the time the leaks surfaced online. Documents and videos of alpha builds that have been heavily criticized on the internet. We also remember that many players in the community poked fun at the critics by also sharing pictures of their game in development. However, these leaks also allowed us to learn more about GTA 6. Many rumors were thereby confirmed, while others surfaced quickly thereafter. It remains to be seen if all of this will be formalized soon. Rockstar has stated multiple times that they want to take their time and only show the game when they feel it’s the right time. Meanwhile, fans are biting their nails as they wait for the sequel and, most importantly, the release date of GTA 6.
