Asobo Studios can’t complain, with A Plague Tail and the Microsoft Flight Simulator the developer has very solid stances on both. Now job advertisements point to a Plague Tail successor.
Asobo Studios shouldn’t be short of work, after all, the new Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 was only recently announced at the Xbox Showcase, which is intended to replace virtual pilots’ favorite toy. But now it seems Asobo has more in the pipeline.
Apparently, the studio is working on a third installment in the Plague Tail series, both of which are quite successful and well-loved by critics. This is indicated by current Studio job openings on LinkedIn
Of course, that doesn’t have to mean anything, especially since there is no official announcement. It would not be surprising, however, because Asobo and Publisher Focus have made two damn good games with A Plague Tale: Innocence and A Plague Tale: Requiem. Requiem has sold well over a million copies, and a series adaptation is in development.
Requiem also came off very well in our test: “A Plague Tale: Requiem is in every respect a consistent further development of its already famous predecessor. The graphics are simply sensational and, as a rare exception, finally prove to be worthy of the next-gen consoles Above all, however, the doubling of the scope to over 20 hours goes far beyond the dimensions of the first game. In terms of play, the successor worthy of its tradition as a story-driven single-player experience, in which highly varied scenes alternate from sandbox sneaking, Riddle passages and contemplative moments that deepen the plot and characters.”
