One of the main features that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom share is the fact that you can reach the final area and beat the game without having completed the rest of the places there. What to visit in Hyrule. However, this is not the case of the initial area, since in both titles it is mandatory to finish it first before having complete freedom to explore the map.
Speedrunners found a way to bypass this barrier in Breath of the Wildhence the doubt assailed some as to whether the same would be possible in Tears of the Kingdom. This is where Timber comes into the picture, a very expert player and speedrunner who set himself the challenge of discovering a way to escape from the Great Island of Dawn without having to complete all of its Sanctuaries and objectives.
For a normal player the jumping off any edge of the island and jumping into the void is suicide, because the game itself places a barrier in the form of clouds that is impossible to cross. However, Timber was clear that he wanted to show that it could be done, which is why he left us with a complete 50-minute video showing each and every one of the steps he followed to get his way.
Even so, there is a huge distance from saying to doing. Of course, it is not as easy to say as to put it into practice, because for this player it has taken nothing more and nothing less than six months to overcome this crazy challenge. Half a year of hard work in which he has tried all kinds of techniques ad nauseam and has taken advantage of errors in the game to find a way to escape from this island in the form of a tutorial without having to overcome it first.
Anyway, to make things even more complicated, not only did he want to just leave the island, since he also he set out to reach the final battle, in order to face the hordes of enemies that exist prior to the final combat against Ganondorf. By the way, it is also another amazing feat to stand up to the big final boss of the adventure with hardly any objects and materials to survive this tough fight.
In any case, the video is not wasted, because in it we can see how, for example, he tries to talk to characters so that the dialogue does not interrupt the fall while he moves towards the plain of Hyrule. In addition, he takes advantage of the fusion of objects in multiple ways to be able to cross the ground and thus plummet to the depths of the kingdom.
This is nothing more than a thousandth of the techniques it carries out, because many times this did not give good results, since the game killed Link instantly as soon as it detected that he was touching the ground. At the same time, he also encountered the inconvenience that many times the hero of the saga would remain frozen in midair without being able to do anything else to avoid it.
Despite these drawbacks, nothing stopped Timber in his quest to find a way to take advantage of all the game’s glitches to achieve this. So, when he began to have more success in his attempts, Link It took more than an hour to descend from the initial island to the final battlebut if he didn’t get the landing spot right he had to start from the beginning, so there is no doubt that this whole feat has tested his enormous patience.
The video is to be watched calmly and very concentrated, because what must also be recognized is that Timber has made a sublime montage. In the video he does not stop explaining in detail all the steps that he has followed during all these months until reducing the fall time to only about 20 minutes, to then confront Ganondorf and his minions and finish The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom with just one 0.20% progress.
