Cillian Murphy, Batman’s Scarecrow, on a cloud
Whether Leonardo DiCaprio, Matthew McConaughey or John David Washington – the first role of Oppenheimer was entrusted to Cillian Murphy. An actor as mentioned above who has acted in Nolan films before. But it is he who will push this project forward and he is, so to speak, realizing his dream from the beginning.
I’ve always told Chris very frankly that if he wants me to be in one of his films, I’ll always be there and I’ll be available. It doesn’t matter how big the role is. But secretly I really wanted to play a leading role for him.. He’s so humble (Editor’s note: Christopher Nolan) and full of self-mockery, and in his very English way he just said to me, “Look, I wrote this script, which is about Oppenheimer.” I want you to are my Oppenheimer.’ It was a great day. […] It seemed the right time to take on such a responsibility. And it turned out to be really significant.
Over premiere.
A collaboration that’s not new, and during an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Nolan explained how Cillian Murphy was cast as the Scarecrow in Batman Begins. The actor’s physique caught the director’s attention. « I remember being in San Francisco writing Batman Begins. And I read an article from the San Francisco Chronicle about 28 days later. I saw a picture of you with your head shaved and your crazy eyes – no offense. I was amazed by your presence in this simple photo. Then I started researching who you were and what you had done, and I really wanted you to audition for Batman. » above EE.
