Buoyed by the massive success of the launch of Lost Ark in the West, Amazon Games is expanding its publishing business to bring other projects to market from third-party developers. Unlike Lost Ark, however, the company’s upcoming game doesn’t appear to revolve around a Western localization of the popular Asian game.
Today, Amazon announced subversive gamewhich enables the company to release new IP that the studio has not announced.
Disruptive Games is a name you may not be familiar with, but it has a decent history in developing games (along with their lead developers) that you may have played. Diablo 2: Resurrection, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skateboard 1+2 and Godfall are among them.
The California-based studio is currently developing an online multiplayer action-adventure game for PC and consoles.
“The talented team at Disruptive Games is creating entirely new experiences for the multiplayer action-adventure genre, and we’re excited to help players bring robust game design and rich world-building,” said Christoph Hartmann, vice president of gaming at Amazon.
“We look forward to working with Amazon Games to create online experiences that inspire creativity and foster positive social interaction,” added Eric Ellis, who was head of multiplayer at Insomniac Games before founding Disruptive.
Beyond that brief tease, however, we don’t know much about the game. It seems premature for the unannounced project, as Disruptive is currently hiring for multiple positions.
