My Minecraft adventures over the past few weeks have taken me to Middle-earth from The Lord of the Rings, The Seven Kingdoms from Game of Thrones, and Azeroth from World of Warcraft. It’s time to return to Minecraft to face the unknown.
Electric mod Castle in the Sky o castle in the sky proposes a much smaller and “simple” adventure than all the ones we have experienced so far. Of course, I had not had such a good time in Minecraft for a long time. You can take a look at mod and download it at the link in this same paragraph.
And what exactly is the mod castle in the sky? A dungeon whose objective is to conquer it by eliminating enemies and solving not too complicated puzzles. In many cases, it reminded me of the dungeons of Skyrim and the puzzles of other famous games like Tomb Raider, Uncharted y Assassin’s Creed. Although I repeat, nothing to write home about.
Conquer the Castle in the Sky
Getting to the castle in the sky is not much of a mystery. You have to purchase the Levitation Stone (levitation stone) when trading with a cartographer. Once I finished arming myself as much as I could, I used the stone and climbed up to the floating castle.
The first thing I thought is that this mod must be inspired by Laputa: A Castle in the Sky, the animated film directed by Hayao Miyazaki and produced by Isao Takahata and Toshio Suzuki. While ascending, I looked at the mod page and sure enough the mod takes its inspiration from Miyazaki’s work.
After quite a long journey, I finally reach the castle in the sky, a piece of rock that levitates in the air and that has a lot of vegetation and a large building in the center. I’ve seen similar things in games like God of War and World of Warcraft, but I’ll admit I was very impressed with how this castle looked from a distance.
As soon as I arrived at the castle, I was greeted by a small horde of zombies that I fought with my sword. Something told me that it wasn’t the place I thought I should arrive… but that’s how I am: always in the place I shouldn’t be. I still haven’t learned that you never cut your way through the mountains of Skyrim, so this wasn’t going to be any different.
After going around and killing zombies, I find the first puzzle: there is a chest inside a large room carved into the rock with a waterfall on the right. Oh surprise, it does a key is missing! After a few minutes looking around, I realize: “That’s why there are so many zombies! I’m sure one of them has it.“.
I kept killing zombies in the purest style Zombieland until finally several keys fell, all in the lower area of the gardens… so lower that there were gaps through which you could fall into the sea. I went back to the room to open the chest. Along the way I found another chest, so I assumed it wasn’t the only one.
With all the chests looted and the items obtained, I headed to a new area of the castle that had caught my attention: a large tree made of wood and from which mushrooms sprout. I explored it for a few minutes, went away and came back again until I found a yellow door with a box next to it. Opening it, he gave me three keys: one yellow, one blue, and one red.
The three keys opened three doors that were placed consecutively and that gave access to the castle. Finally, damn it!
Inside the castle: enemies and puzzles
Once inside, I find enemies again and a lot of rooms closed by yellow, blue and red doors. It can’t be too complicated: the enemies are sure to drop something and the keys I have are sure to open the colored doors. I was right!
The puzzles weren’t too complicated: some required getting an object and collecting others from boxes and others it was enough to hit a lever to open a door or compartment. As I said at the beginning of the experiential, nothing to write home about but a lot of fun.
My favorite puzzle was one that involved a bow, arrows and targets. When shooting the targets, a button was pressed that opened something or activated something else. She kept collecting a thousand keys and objects without knowing what they were for. I, as a lover of games like Fallout y State of Decay 2I saved everything for what could happen.
Before I got to the end, I went through a few glass tubes with water in which I almost drowned because I couldn’t be dumber. Lucky that I finally found a way to move forward and get to the heart of the castle in the sky. It was filled with flowers, herbs, vines, a spell book, and a lever in the center.
I broke glass to hit a plate on the floor which played some fantastic music and revealed a Sims icon shaped gem (the green one) which I dubbed: the heart of the floating castle. It was the end of the dungeon, the sign that he had overcome it.
And this has been my weekly adventure! I wanted to do something more relaxed and that would allow me To discover new things. I had a great time solving the castle puzzles and fighting the zombie enemies. It wasn’t particularly complicated, which made it possible for me to be relaxed and not get too bogged down.
Now it’s your turn: Are you interested in this mod? Do you plan to play it? Do you know of any other similar mod? I read you in comments.
