On December 8th, the very first yakuza will blow out its first fifteen candles. Consequently, the series also celebrates its fifteenth birthday. Unsurprisingly, SEGA decided to organize an online event on the occasion to celebrate what has become one of its most important series.

SEGA Japan just announced the webcast on December 8th at 12:00 noon (Paris time). a mission dedicated to the 15 years of the Yakuza series. Currently, the Japanese publisher has announced that Takaya Kuroda (the historical voice of Karuma Kiryu), Kazuhiro Nakaya (the performer of Ichiban Kasuga), Toshihiro Nagoshi (the creator of Yakuza and the creative director of SEGA) Daisuke Sato (the manager of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and the series ‘producer) and Masayoshi Yokoyama (the series’ main producer) will all be attending this event.
But that’s not all. SEGA has also announced that announcements regarding the future of the series will be made during this stream. Therefore, while it is impossible to categorically confirm this at the moment, it would not be impossible for this mission to be the scene of the announcement of the next yakuza. Typically, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio announces its game of the year in late August through early September and presents it during the Tokyo Game Show. However, the COVID-19 pandemic, the lifting of the TGS, and the western release of Yakuza: Like a Dragon a few days ago have changed the habits of the SEGA studio.
Note that in anticipation of this event, SEGA will: a Stream marathon
Yakuza: Like a joke
At the time these lines are written, it is easy to speculate on the content of the announcement (s) provided by the Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. However, some hypotheses come to mind from your servant. During his various public appearances over the past few months, Toshihiro Nagoshi has repeatedly brought up certain topics, such as the emphasis on storytelling since judgment and the possibility of his studio becoming more multiplayer. So it wouldn’t be surprising if a Judgment 2 or a multiplayer were in the studio’s plans.
Since this stream is so dedicated to Yakuza, announcements about a multiplayer game or Judgment 2 would not be particularly appropriate (even if Judgment is taking place in the world of Yakuza). It could also be something else and even announcements related to the mobile world. Yakuza: Like a dragon that has just been released in the West and whose PS5 version is not yet available, there shouldn’t be a question about Yakuza 8 right now. Reply in a few days.
