It seems that the best jams are made in old jars. At least that’s what Dead Space proved by offering a remake that was as effective as it was well-received by critics and players. Unfortunately, some took the opportunity to castigate a supposed waking ideology in the awful title…

Survival horror fans had loved it since 2008, Dead Space has recently returned to the limelight with a remake version. The Motive Studios game, out January 27th for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, caught our eye as it received an excellent 17/20 rating in our columns. The proof of a successful exercise that, thanks to some particularly well thought-out additions, takes us back a few years in the past as well as surprises us.
In addition to the atmosphere that is still mastered aboard the USG Ishimura, both in terms of graphics and sound effects, this remake version allows itself some significant additions. We think in particular of the random events that stress our exploration a little far from a space vacation club, as well as the few changes made to the story to make it livelier and better tie it to the sequels of the first opus. Still, some players didn’t take well to some of these changes…
Woke up, is it the Asian pan?
While the majority of press and gamers alike will say that th is remake is ultimately an improved version of the original Dead Space, some curators would have preferred to skip a few changes.
However, we learn that in the introduction of the game Kendra Daniels is in a relationship with another woman during a completely banal and secondary conversation. Johnston, on the other hand, enjoys a total transformation as he transitions from white man to black woman.a drama some players find insurmountable… Finally, when asked for his opinion on the game by a member of his community, streamer and youtuber Synthetic Man (95,000 subscribers on YouTube) had the following to say:

It’s the same game, they’ve changed a lot of the combat elements, they’ve added a lot of gay and woke shit that normal people will ignore because it’s not being thrown in your face all the time, but it’s not subtle either. Let’s face it, it’s not subtle either. Everyone has been brainwashed, we have to accept that we are the minority now. Because stupid people can very easily be fed subliminal propaganda all the time without ever realizing it. Unless we specifically tell them, “We want to replace you, we wish you were all dead, but thanks for your money”.
A particularly alarming reaction that mixes conspiracy, homophobia and racism, a particularly tasty cocktail found all too often on the internet. As a reminder, the elements that count as Dead Space’s “Awakening” are only particularly minor changes that will not affect your gaming experience or its story in any way.
