Elder Scrolls 6 wasn’t unveiled at E3 2021 – we weren’t really expecting it either. After all, it was already known that this time the new Starfield brand was in the spotlight. Even so, many fans of fantasy RPG are understandably disappointed. But apparently Bethesda interspersed a subtle hint for us that almost everyone overlooked.
Where is the Easter Egg hidden? The inside of a spaceship can be seen in the Starfield trailer, in one scene the camera moves along the consoles. And right there, on the edge of one of these consoles, is something that at first glance looks like a perfectly normal scratch. Fortunately one has findiger Fan took a closer look again.

Is that really a clue? At first glance, such a scratch in the paintwork might not look particularly exciting. But there are several reasons why the Easter Egg is most likely a valid tip from the developers:
- While there can be crazy coincidences with physical movie sets, that is extremely unlikely with an animated video. All of the assets in it have been created by hand, there is unbelievable detail work in every frame – and the scratch is far too special to be part of the bump map (i.e. the prefabricated surface structure of an animated object). Someone deliberately created it, placed it and then moved it to a fairly central point in the camera focus.
-
Hammerfell has been teased as a new location by Bethesda in the past. It would be rather strange if several Easter Eggs refer to the same place and that doesn’t mean anything in the end.
- The whole Starfield trailer is teeming with hidden details that hide a deeper meaning. Our Starfield experts have dug deep into the video material shown and brought a lot of information about the new sci-fi role-playing game to light. You can read all the results here:

That is known about the places
Of course, fans have been digging deep into the Elder Scrolls lore box for years to pull out every snippet of information about Hammerfell and high rock. By the way, in Elder Scrolls Online you can already visit the regions yourself – which gives colleague Géraldine serious concerns.
Hammerfell is the independent home of the Redguards, whom you have already met in Skyrim. It is west of Skyrim and Cyrodiil and south of High Rock. One of the most famous regions is the sandy Alik’r Desert, which makes up much of the region. The climate is significantly warmer than in Skyrim.
High Rock is called Hochfels in the Europe language edition and is the most densely populated region of Tamriel. It is located north of Hammerfell, has a very long coastline and is largely covered by forests. Bretons and orcs are at home here, also races that you already know from previous games.
When will Elder Scrolls 6 be released? Unfortunately, this is not yet foreseeable, but it will take years. Starfield will be released on November 11, 2022, so the next Elder Scrolls should not appear before 2023 at the earliest. The developers have already made it clear that it will be a long time before the release.
If you already feel like traveling to completely new regions of Tamriel, but are not interested in MMOs, then you should definitely take a look at our big plus report on the mega-project Beyond Skyrim.
