Google has always been the undisputed top dog among the search engines on the Internet. Almost all of us call up the Google homepage without thinking twice or type the search term in the address bar of the browser, which – who would have thought it – also mostly relies on the services of the six colorful letters.
Soon, however, a serious competitor is to enter the field. And none other than the tech giant Apple. According to a report on the website, the iPhone group should MacRumors work at full speed on your own search engine, even though you would give up even a small fortune for it.
Google pays well, but is that enough for Apple?
According to estimates, Google has been paying Apple around 15 billion US dollars a year so that Google search can be used by default on devices from Cupertino. With the introduction of its own search engine, Apple would forego a not exactly small amount.
But it could also be that Apple uses the in-house development as a means of pressure in future negotiations to collect even more money from Google for the cooperation.
But one thing is crystal clear: Should Apple really launch its own search engine, Google would find itself confronted with a serious competitor. After all, we’re talking hundreds of millions of iPhones, iPads, and Macs that Google could potentially ditch.
One way or another, the work on our own search engine is considered an open secret.
According to the MacRumors report, at least 200 people are working internally on the search engine. This will be based in part on the existing technology behind Spotlight (the desktop search on Mac devices) and the voice assistant Siri. But elements of the Apple Music search function and the App Store should also be used. As you can see, the search engine is obviously a motley Apple mix.
Much water still flows down the Rhine
It will be a while before Google has competition. According to MacRumors, who want to speak to someone on the development team, the Apple search engine is at least four years away. For now, they want to focus on improving Spotlight.
So you have to be patient if you are interested in the Apple search engine. Until then, there are also a few interesting innovations on Google. One of them could turn the complete search results upside down:
