A few weeks ago, the survival sequel Ark 2 was postponed to 2024 anyway, but recently a report caused new unease, as there was talk of a release in 2025. This has now called the developers into action and resulted in an official statement.
The development work on Ark 2 is supported by the studio Digital Domain – and that has recently caused a lot of speculation. Digital Domain published a new annual report and it said that Ark 2 should not be released until spring 2025. So has there been another postponement in the meantime, after the title was last postponed to 2024 anyway?
It’s not quite like that, as main developer Studio Wildcard now confirms. Referring to the statement made in the annual report, it says that this is “most likely a typographical error”. The studio emphasized to GamesRadar that they “have no idea where that came from”.
Ark 2 is principally being developed by Studio Wildcard, but Digital Domain is on board to help with various in-game assets. That’s why the game appeared on page 17 of the annual report there, where the connection with Studio Wildcard and the preparation for the release of Ark 2 are explicitly emphasized. It could also be read there that it was assumed that “they would be involved in all aspects of the project until the release in spring 2025”.
Studio Wildcard has now invalidated this release time window again – fortunately, after all, the last postponement from a few weeks ago was bitter enough. Ark 2 should not be available until the end of 2024.
