BattleTech 2020 – Bigger and better, but the DLCs are too expensive

Mech games haven’t always had it easy in the recent past. Battletech is a successful exception here: The strategy game is based on modern XCOM games and does not fall over its own feet. Instead, Battletech creates a good balancing act between the strategy and management part, in which you act on the battlefield on the one hand, but also get a lot to do outside of combat.

In the combat missions themselves, you control a team of up to four mechs and send them into turn-based battles. Apart from the orders, however, you always have to repair the mechs, commission new weapons and make sure that you don’t exceed your relatively strictly limited budget.
