Anyone who was already used to the previous voice of the English language version of Bayonetta has to rethink the third part – Bayonetta gets a new voice actress.
As announced by Platinum Games, Bayonetta will get a new voice in the third part, at least for the English language version. Jennifer Hale will be used instead of Hellena Taylor. The studio has not specifically mentioned the exact reasons for the reshuffle, but only speaks of overlapping circumstances.
Yusuke Miyata told Nintendo Everything during an interview: “We held a casting for Bayonetta’s new voice and offered the role to Jennifer Hale, which we felt would be a good fit for the character. I understand the concerns that some Fans have commented on the voice change at this point in the series, but Jennifer’s performance far exceeded our expectations. I am confident that her portrayal of Bayonetta will exceed our fans’ expectations.”
Hale is a well-known actress and voice actress who already countless speaking roles in films and video games, including in the Halo series as Commander Sarah Palmer, in Bioshock Infinite as Rosalind Lutece or in Overwatch as Elizabeth Caledonia “Calamity” Ashe. There should be no doubt that she does her job professionally.
