Big Star Trek Return: All-New Picard Trailer Reveals Whoopi Goldberg as Guinan

As was announced just a few days ago, “Star Trek: Picard” will return on March 3, 2022. Then the new season starts around the fan favorite Jean-Luc Picard played by Patrick Stewart in the USA on Paramount + (in Germany it’s a day later on Amazon Prime Video). Today there is also a brand new trailer

None other than “Starship Enterprise – The Next Century” star Whoopi Goldberg is back as Guinan! Check out the exciting new trailer for Star Trek: Picard Season 2, which also reveals a little more about the plot of the upcoming episodes:

According to the video above, Issue 2 takes place on Earth in the year 2024. It was already known in advance that Q would send Jean-Luc Picard and his team to an alternative, “fascist” timeline. In the case of altered timelines and alternate realities, as the Starship Enterprise – The Next Century story proves, Guinan can help particularly well.

Jean-Luc Picard says so in the trailer above: “I know someone who can help us understand the change in time.” To which the former bartender of the Enterprise replies: “I’m going to need some tea: Earl Grey, boiling hot.”

But what exactly happened? The trailer for the second “Picard” season doesn’t seem to reveal that yet. However, it seems like a little Earth boy meets a Vulcan. If this encounter took place in 2024, it would be much earlier than in previous “Star Trek” history. First contact happened here in 2063, as shown in the 1996 movie Star Trek: First Contact.

The new “Picard” trailer also talks about “a single change” that is “considerably more dangerous than you realize.”

That’s why Picard turns to Guinan

The fact that Jean-Luc Picard seeks Guinan’s help to “understand the change in time” can be explained with another piece of “Star Trek” history. In the classic “Starship Enterprise – The Next Century” episode “The Old Enterprise” (Season 3, Episode 15), the Enterprise-D is transported to another timeline where a terrible war is raging with the Klingons.

However, nobody on the Enterprise notices the timeline change – except for Guinan. Here she manages to convince Picard, who trusts her, of the change.

Guinan also always had a special relationship with Q, the other big returnee from the second season of “Picard”.
