But a season 2 for Kenobi?
A sequel wasn’t actually planned: Strictly speaking, Kenobi is as one Limited Series
Lucasfilm is now rowing back: In conversation with Entertainment Weekly Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy reveals that Kenobi might get a second season as a limited series. Because in the interview she hints that behind the scenes of the Disney Plus Star Wars production, one would always be interested in deepening the story of Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) between episodes 3 and 4:
[Eine zweite Staffel] is definitely something we talk about. […] Mainly because everyone involved was just having such a great time together. ewan [McGregor] had a great time. hayden [Christensen] had a great time. So from a certain perspective, everyone involved would love it if we hadn’t reached the end after all.

Undoubtedly, the enduring popularity of Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen, and their characters, in the community is not entirely innocent of this shift in perspective. So it only makes sense for Disney and Lucasfilm to keep the back door open for another Obi-Wan Kenobi return.
But the story has to fit: Fans should not rejoice too soon. It has not been officially confirmed that Kenobi Season 2 is really coming. Kennedy himself emphasizes that the story would also have to fit, which could always be a challenge. Season 1 of the Star Wars series is already complete in itself and there is only limited scope for the plot between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope:
[Kenobi] is definitely designed for a limited series. It’s a big story with a beginning, a middle and an end. We are [an Kenobi] approached that it is a complete story. […] So we have to ask ourselves: why would we [eine Staffel 2] bring? If we decide to do more with the Obi-Wan character, we really need to know the answer to that.
