In Call of Duty, it’s simply part of the game to tweak the weapon balancing via updates. Sometimes the developers make a lot of mess. An entire category in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is currently almost unplayable and the fans are beside themselves.
Assault rifles are as much a part of Call of Duty’s online lobbies as the rage kids. It’s just stupid when the Assault Rifles become virtually unplayable because Activision and Treyarch messed up with the last patch.

With the update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, the developers dealt a real death blow to many assault rifles. The effective range of some shooting clubs is now drastically reduced, as the community has discovered several times. According to Will Judd from Digital Foundry, the effective range of 40 meters, where it deals minimum damage, has been reduced to 5.7 and 10.9 meters. In other words, if you’re not standing directly in front of the enemy, you’re doing almost no damage at all. This understandably angers many assault rifle fans.
According to players on Reddit, the AK-74, AMES, Model L and the Goblin are particularly affected. But other weapons are also likely to be affected by the error. But that’s not the only error in the last patch for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. The “Ghost” perk can no longer be equipped at the moment either. This hides you from reconnaissance drones and scout impulses; So sneaking is hardly possible at the moment. Additionally, it no longer appears to unlock at level 17 as intended.
We can only hope that Treyarch fixes the errors quickly. Apart from the aforementioned errors, the current part of the series is really, really good, as we also stated in our test for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
