You wanted to play Warzone but didn't play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare? Then it would be better to clear the hard drive.

After numerous leaks yesterday, Activion officially announced the small, as yet unknown rest of Warzone, the Battle Royale mode for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (for news: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare – All information about Warzone!). As of today, the free multiplayer mode is playable, even without you having to own the main game. If that's the case, however, you shouldn't expect to plunge into battle before tonight, as the download size without Modern Warfare is a pretty big chunk.

While Call of Duty players "only" have to download a patch of around 15 to 22 gigabytes, the stand-alone download is larger, much larger. In this case, you have to clear 80 to 100 gigabytes on your hard drive. A preload is not possible. It is unknown how large the demand is on the respective platforms. As a rule, this varies considerably.
But why is the free version of Warzone so big? On the one hand, Modern Warfare, with all the packs installed, requires a good 150 gigabytes on the PS4. Infinity Ward even recommends PC gamers to free an additional 175 gigabytes for future content. With a mode for 150 players with a correspondingly large map and numerous tasks, it is not surprising that the download is so large without a main game.
