In just three weeks, Elden Ring sold more copies than Dark Souls 3 in four years. Studio CEO Hidetaka Miyazaki and the rest of the team are blown away.
In Europe, Elden Ring is a real hit, especially with PC players. But ultimately, this success is truly global, surpassing anything FromSoftware has experienced with previous Soul games. Since its release The game has sold over 12 million copies worldwide.
The triumph of FromSoftware
More than 12 million copies on consoles and PC, these are the first official sales figures announced by Bandai Namco. So it’s normal for teams to be happy about it “Fantastic start to the new franchise”
Hidetaka Miyazaki, CEO of FromSoftware, can’t believe it himself:
It’s amazing how many people have played Elden Ring. For this, I would like to express our sincere thanks on behalf of the entire development team. Elden Ring is based on a mythological story by George RR Martin. We hope that players will enjoy a high level of freedom as they venture into this vast world, exploring its many mysteries and confronting its many threats. Thank you for your continued support.
Yasuo Miyakawa, CEO of Bandai Namco Entertainment, also wrote his thanks for the occasion:
I want to take this opportunity thank you to all our fans who added Elden Ring to their collection of video games. I am very proud to have been involved with FromSoftware under the direction of director Miyazaki and George RR Martin in the development of such a wonderful and fantastic game. A lot of effort went into creating Elden Ring and exceeding the expectations of our fans around the world. With the same goal, we will continue our efforts to develop the brand beyond the game and into everyone’s daily life.. We will continue to provide fun and fulfillment through entertainment so we can connect with our fans around the world.
Half-formed, Miyakawa-san hints that there will definitely be one elden ring 2 and other things to exploit the vein. Goodies have hit the market and why not transmedia projects?
Elden Ring beats Dark Souls 3 and all others
In three weeks, the game, developed in collaboration with the creator of Game of Thrones, has surpassed its predecessors. Dark Souls 3 previously held the record with 10 million sales. An impressive tally, to be sure, but done over a period of four years…compared to less than a month.
In any case, FromSoftware’s bet seems to have been right and this time the title requirement doesn’t seem to have been a barrier to purchase.
Have you had time to flip Elden Ring all over the place? Do you understand praise and business performance? Do you find fault with this new proposal? Tell us everything in comments.
