Released on August 27, 2019, Control is the latest production by Remedy, which some suggest is working on the sequel to Alan Wake. However, the studio doesn’t stop at this mysterious game in development.
Condor: PvE-oriented multiplayer game announced
We learn tonight that Remedy signed a co-publishing deal with 505 Games in order to Development of a multiplayer spin-off from Control. The game’s final name has not been released, but the code name under which it is being developed is Condor (tentative name). We already know quite a bit about this future title, in particular that there is a PvE oriented game (Player versus environment) he will turn under the northern lights machine was developed and published by Remedy on PC, PS5 and Xbox series. The studio has therefore decided to give up the PS4 and Xbox One for their next production. Rami and Raffi Galante, Co-CEOs of Digital Bros Group, the parent company of 505 Games, say:
We look forward to continuing and expanding our collaboration with Remedy. With over 2 million copies sold and a turnover of over 70 million dollars, Control is an extremely successful game. As a multiplayer game, Condor has the potential to bind the gaming community in the long term and contributes to the product sales of 505 games longer than conventional games.
Rare but pleasant fact we also know the budget of 25 million dollars allocated to Condor. The development and marketing costs are split between Remedy and 505 Games, as well as revenue Potentials generated by the title. We understand the direction of this project a little better by reading the open letter from Mikaël Kasurinen, Director of the Control Franchise. It was posted on the official Remedy website, but here are the key excerpts:
(…) Control is above all a world, a place for a multitude of stories, events and characters. A place where unexpected, strange and extraordinary things happen. We started with Jesse (…), but this world has even more to offer. Oh, so much more. And the Condor project will be an expression of this. (…) Yes, Remedy has been offering solo experiences as a studio for over 25 years. But we are also avid fans of multiplayer games (…). There are worlds and experiences that you can share with your friends, and they can shine as brightly as any single player experience.
We understand that there will be skepticism about multiplayer. But I believe we can create shared experiences without compromising the unique DNA of who we are or the stories we want to tell. Yes, we have to rethink our thinking, our techniques, our way of thinking, but we see it as an exciting challenge: what would a Remedy multiplayer game look like? The Vanguard team has already made impressive progress here and the opportunities there are extremely exciting. The two games will be different examples of how you can experience our worlds together. We approach this with a mixture of enthusiasm and respect. We want to create something that is captivating yet familiar, something that each of our fans can step into and feel at home, but together.
A new big budget opus from Control is expected to be released soon
Today’s announcements go on as we learn th is today the control license is to be expanded with the development of a new big budget album
We’ve been working successfully with 505 Games for over four years and we’ve both grown stronger in our respective areas. We are happy to expand and deepen our partnership. This new agreement supports Remedy’s goals of growing our games into long-term franchises, developing benchmark games, strengthening our business capabilities, and working with great partners with whom we can be successful together.
Unfortunately, I can’t go into more detail, but suffice it to say I’m very excited about the future of the Control franchise. Games take years to create. Building the right partnerships is crucial in order to create the right foundation financially, creatively and technologically. Rest assured that thanks to you, we want to build on Control’s foundation and success. Which reminds me that many of you have asked for official Control products. In August, just in time for Control’s second anniversary, it will finally be available. Stay tuned! Added Mikaël Kasurinen.
Remedy surprises his world with such announcements, but the surprise is even more important. The universe created with Control seems to have given Remedy a lot of ideas that, with the help of 505 Games, she can implement if all goes well.
