The Crucial P5 Plus SSD is a so-called Gen 4 SSD that is compatible with the latest PCI Express 4.0 ports. The speeds compared to Gen 3 are two to three faster, and this model can reach 6600 MB / s reading, which is well above the 5500 MB / s recommended by Sony. How can I increase the storage space on my PS5?
There are two ways to increase the storage of your PS5, via an external hard drive (HDD) or via an SSD to insert into your console. However, it is only possible to start the games with an internal SSD.
How do I install an internal SSD on the PS5?
You will need a Phillips # 1 screwdriver to do this. After making sure the console is unplugged, lay it down and position it in front of you. Remove the cover, and then unscrew the cover from the SSD expansion slot. Remove screws, insert SSD and screw in. All you have to do is close the SSD space cover and replace the outer cover. Reconnect the console and follow the instructions in the PS5 format utility so you can use your new SSD.
