Cyberpunk 2077 was supposed to be released in April, but has recently been significantly postponed to September this year. Does that increase the chance of a timely release for PS5 and Xbox Series X? CD Projekt RED has now also commented on this.

The postponement of Cyberpunk 2077 by a full five months from April to September 2020 continues to make waves online. No wonder, because the title of the Witcher maker is considered one of the top hits of the year and is expected by countless fans. The big single player part will only be available from September 17, 2020, the multiplayer, which is also planned, will not even be available until 2022. But does that mean that there could still be an implementation for PS5 and Xbox Series X?
To date, the sci-fi role-playing game has only been confirmed for PC, Stadia, Xbox One and PS4, but the new September date is much closer to the expected release of PS5 and Xbox Series X. Considering that Cyberpunk 2077 is the current one Console generation should be pretty much exhausted, since a cross-gen release would be closer than ever for the new home consoles, right?
CD Projekt RED apparently disagrees and has rejected any speculations in this direction during a conference call. CFO Piotr Nielubowicz said in this context: "Cyberpunk is currently planned for PS4, Xbox One and PC. Nothing has changed in relation to these plans."
And further: "We remain true to the same plans that we have set for ourselves. Cyberpunk 2077 has always been a game designed for PS4 and Xbox One. We are clearly thinking about the next generation in general, but we are full at the moment and focused entirely on the current generation. This plan is still valid for us. "
Translated means: This year there will definitely be no PS5 and XSX implementations of Cyberpunk 2077 anymore. It remains to be seen what the future holds. All in all, it would be surprising in the end if CD Projekt RED did not deliver a port for the next-gen consoles later (clearly) after the release.
