Ironmace, developer of fantasy FPS dungeon PvPvE adventure dark and darkthe game page has been taken down from Steam.
The developer recently had a problem with industry giant Nexon chasing the studio. Apparently, one of the developers used to work for the company and was accused of stealing assets and code that Nexon claimed was used in Dark and Darker.
Two weeks ago, Ironmace received a search warrant from South Korean police, who searched the office and seized game-related materials. According to the developers, the investigation process was quick and nothing in the form of stolen assets or codes was found.
Still, today, due to ongoing legal issues with Nexon and a cease and desist and DMCA takedown of the service, Dark and Darker has been pulled from Steam until the issues can be resolved.
Ironmace said on the official Discord server: “To all our fans, we recently received a cease and desist letter and DMCA takedown notice from Nexon regarding Dark and Darker, which are based on misrepresented claims.”
“We are currently working with our legal team to resolve this issue in the best possible way. Due to the sensitive legal nature of this issue, we must treat our statements with caution so as not to jeopardize our position. We ask for your understanding, Because we’re trying to get back into the game as quickly as possible.”
“Please know that we will do everything we can for our fans.”
Currently only available through playtesting, Dark and Darker is still in development and will enter Early Access in April or May once it’s ready.
