It’s been almost a week since the launch Destiny 2the huge witch queen Expansion, the game is already healthier than before; players are raving about the various updates the game has seen almost universally, and as I’ve been zealous elsewhere, it’s the best Destiny 2 in years — — maybe the best ever.
But that’s not to say there are no problems. After all, this is a live service game – there are always hiccups when it comes to rolling out massive content updates.
Last night, Bungie’s Game Director for The Witch Queen — Joe Blackburn — on Twitter explaining the improvements the studio is looking for as it goes into Week 2 of the new season and beyond.
Perhaps the biggest change over the next few weeks has to do with Fountain drops; a cursory glance at any one of the Destiny 2 Community Hubs shows that Fountain drops have been a point of contention for many in the game, with some players so far almost Browsing through all the content released in The Witch Queen and didn’t even get any of them they needed the special Deepsight gun to unlock crafting mode. Oops. Given that production is such a big part of this season’s selling point, that’s not ideal.
The team has been playing a lot of witch queens. Want to get a quick idea of where our minds are with some of the week 1 reactions. [1/13]

Therefore, Bungie will increase the drop chance of weapons in Wellspring and add ‘Doom Protection‘ Also — it’s basically a failsafe that gives you a drop if you don’t get one organically within a certain amount of time. Well, this should help fill out your make checklist and drive your Evidence Committee investigation.
elsewhere, Ascend alloy drop rate is being modified. According to Blackburn, a patch will be released in the game on Thursday that will make it easier to acquire these rare resources (if you’re playing a higher level event). If drops are still too low, Blackburn noted that Bungie will continue to monitor and adjust drop rates as the season progresses.”
Otherwise, it looks like the game is in pretty good shape. “Overall, we’re very pleased with the smooth launch of the Witch Queen and are now seriously looking at how things like Void 3.0 and weapon crafting will affect the rest of the game, so we can start dialing in something to create a Destiny 2’s solid 5th year,” Blackburn said.
Hopefully the game stays well and stable until the Raid launches on Saturday, March 5th at 10AM PST / 1PM ET / 6PM UK.
