Anyone who currently wants to stream on Twitch or chat with other viewers is currently looking at the tube – at least if they get their DSL or cable connection from Vodafone. Many other services are also affected. We have all the information and a temporary solution for you.
Vodafone disruption affects Twitch, PSN and more
Since almost exactly 8 p.m. on the evening of August 16, Vodafone customers have no longer been able to properly access many Internet services. The platforms affected include the streaming provider Twitch, the PlayStation Network, Nintendo Online and many other offers.
Those affected can no longer stream or chat on Twitch, and the party function on PSN is broken, meaning that playing with friends is no longer possible. The new MMO Tower of Fantasy is currently not available to Vodafone customers at all.
You can find them on Twitter hundreds of complaintswhich confirm the error:

First, Vodafone denied any blame, claiming that there were no issues and that Twitch was the one to blame:

A little later, the Vodafone service rowed back and stated that they would start troubleshooting. However, resourceful users have already found the reason for the disruption via trace route: the routing from Vodafone to the servers of the large server operator AWS is disrupted.
Temporary solution for the Vodafone outage
If you don’t want to wait for it, we can offer you at least two temporary solutions to the problem.
#1: Use a VPN
On the one hand, you can avoid the disruption by using a VPN service. We can confirm that in this way all services used on the PC will work normally again. If your router supports VPN, all other connected devices should work again.
#2: TOR Browser
If you have not subscribed to a VPN service, you can also use the TOR browser to be able to chat on Twitch again. Of course, this does not fix streaming or problems with games.
