It’s becoming increasingly irrelevant which platform we actually play on. Thanks to cloud gaming, cross-save and play, and dwindling platform exclusivity, we as gamers now have more freedom than we might have dreamed of 10 years ago.
Rather, we are now not asking ourselves the question of what we can enjoy a game on, but where we want to enjoy it. The issue of comfort along with current hardware prices and one’s home and financial situation has become much more crucial in gaming now. That’s why it’s time for another survey.

About a year ago, we asked you whether you, as part of the PC-savvy GameStar community, actually own one or more consoles or whether you just stay loyal to your gaming PC. Even then, more than two-thirds of all 9,400 participants owned one or more consoles – especially the Nintendo Switch.
Now that the Steam Deck is out, you might have had a shot at a PS5, and graphics card prices continue to soar, we’re curious to see if the Nintendo Switch remains the most popular console, or if a competitor takes over.
But maybe you’ve also chosen a rather unknown console representative as your newest favorite platform. Because Switch and Steam Deck aren’t the only options in the handheld space. Our colleagues Jakob, Sören and Benedikt talked about two special alternatives in the hardware podcast:
