Donkey Kong was one of Nintendo’s most iconic and important brands, but the wacky monkey as the protagonist has been rather quiet recently. According to new rumors, that should change again.
Accordingly, Nintendo is planning a bigger comeback of the fun franchise – and not only in the games area. Like the often very well-informed Nintendo insider Zippo
If you believe the words of the insiders, there should be a new video game as well as an animation format. “I’ve been told by several people that Donkey Kong will be the next franchise after Mario that Nintendo wants to turn a games brand into a multimedia giant,” said Zippo.
“Donkey and Co. will not only get a new game, there will also be an animation format, an expansion of the amusement park, merchandise and more,” it continues. Whether the animation format should be a film or a series, the sources have not yet been able to securely transmit. This implementation with the characters from Donkey Kong is still in the early stages of production.
The video game is not just supposed to be some cheap copy, Nintendo takes Donkey Kong “very seriously” and that “should be great news for the fans”.
The amusement park expansion mentioned above naturally relates to Super Nintendo World, where Donkey Kong content is to be experienced in the future.
