It’s been a few years since E3 (thank you Covid), but the 2023 show will once again return to the physical and digital realms, with an array of online showcases, networking opportunities, and — if past years are anything to go by — some of the gaming calendar. Most important announcement.
Back in 2022, the ESA and ReedPop confirmed that E3 would return with a live show in 2023, and now the companies have provided more information on exactly what to expect in those heady days in the middle of summer.
First, ReedPop announced that it would be revamping E3 with separate “industry” and “gamer” days and corresponding exhibit halls.
E3 Industry Day will be Tuesday 13 June to Thursday 15 June, reserved exclusively for registered contributors to video games, media and content creators, who will have access to the West and South Halls. The space was designed based on feedback from developers and industry professionals who requested the need for spaces to connect, away from the busy alleyways of the main showroom. The gaming press will be happy to note that there is also a bar in the middle of this area.
E3 Day of Gamers will follow Thursday 15 June and Friday 16 Juneonly in the South Hall, accessible to the general public, industry and media attendees.
Before it all happens, though, you can catch E3 2023 Digital Week – which kicks off Sunday, June 11and will feature many online showcases, including PC Gaming Show, Future Gaming Show, Guerilla Collective, and Black Voices in Gaming.
ReedPop promises to announce more publishers and independent press releases in the coming weeks. “We know it’s been a long wait, and we’re proud to share more details about what’s coming at E3 and more,” said Kyle Marsden-Kish, vice president of gaming at ReedPop. “ReedPop is excited to bring back a remastered E3 as a cultural touchstone for the gaming industry and its fans.”
Just yesterday, Microsoft announced that it would once again bring gaming news to the busy June period this year, promising a high-profile showcase of Starfield and other upcoming titles.
It’s been confirmed that Nintendo won’t be attending E3 2023 — it remains to be seen whether it will hold its own Direct then.
disclaimer: ReedPop, producer of the rebooted E3 format, is iGamesNews’s parent company.
