In 2022 some titles were postponed, but we didn’t have to do without big AAA games completely. Which titles have sold best in Europey, game, the association of the Europe games industry, is now telling us.
Exact numbers won’t be revealed, but the list is nonetheless quite exciting – after all, the prize-winning Elden Ring is just barely on the podium, while EA’s latest FIFA and the Nintendo-exclusive Pokémon Legends: Arceus dominate the list. Which games are included?
The top list includes all PC and console games that were released in 2022. This includes sales that are made via the physical and digital counters – only trade via the Nintendo Eshop is not included. All the more remarkable that Pokémon Legends: Arceus still ended up in 2nd place! The data is from Games Sales Data
However, this list is not completely representative of the success of a game: God of War Ragnarök, for example, had significantly less time to collect many sales with a release in November than Elden Ring, which was released in February. Additionally, Ragnarök is exclusive to PS4 and PS5, while Elden Ring is playable on all common platforms. And with a USK from 0 years, FIFA 23 naturally has a much larger target group than both action games. So keep that in mind as you peruse the list.
