Amazon has secured the TV rights to the post-apocalyptic Fallout series and is known to be working on a series. Some more information about the story has now been made public.
After a first picture of the Fallout TV series from Amazon became public, there is now some more information about the plot. This is how Bethesda director Todd Howard has now commented on the story of the project in a podcast – and this is particularly important for long-time fans of the series.
Reason: As has now become known, the TV series will not directly take up any known storyline from the games themselves. Anyone who has played all the games in the franchise will be surprised by the series in terms of story.
Specifically, Howard said, “When people wanted to make a movie, they wanted to tell the story of Fallout 3 or Fallout 4. As far as that project goes, it was like, ‘Let’s do something else that exists in the world of Fallout. ‘ So it’s not re-telling a game’s story, it’s basically taking an area of a map and from there it’s like, ‘Let’s tell a story there that fits the world we’ve built and the rules we’ve set up does not break.’ There may be references to things in the games, but it won’t be a retelling of the games. It exists in the same world, but at the same time it’s its own unique thing.”
A lot of other information about the Fallout series is still not known. There is also no release date at the moment. There is a high probability that the series will not be available on Amazon Prime Video before the end of 2023 or even in 2024.
The show will be helmed by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the duo behind the now-defunct HBO sci-fi series Westworld.
