When the promising giant mod Fallout London finally appears, some Fallout 4 owners will unfortunately be left empty-handed. This is due to the necessary rollback.
The next-gen update for Fallout 4 famously thwarted the release of the ambitious Fallout London mod. Several months later, the release is now imminent, but as we have already reported, Fallout 4 as the base game has to be rolled back to an earlier version. This is the reason why, in the end, not all Fallout 4 owners can actually play the modification.
A spokesperson from GOG.com, where the mod is published, confirmed that Fallout London cannot be played on versions of Fallout 4 purchased from the Epic Games Store. The reason: This store simply supports update rollbacks.
This puts a stop to the plan to make the mod in post-apocalyptic London available in all versions of Fallout 4. While versions of the game purchased from the Epic Games Store are excluded, the procedure is easiest to carry out directly at GOG.com. There is a “simple and reliable rollback feature” there.
In addition, buyers of Fallout 4 on Steam should also be able to play Fallout London. For Valve’s popular PC platform, a “downgrading option via downgrading tool and/or manual downgrading” is being worked on.
According to the developers of Team FOLON, the reason for the necessary downgrade of Fallout 4 to an earlier version of the game is simply that the current next-gen update is simply not stable enough for the mod. At least: At a later date, a version of Fallout London is scheduled to follow that also works with the next-gen update. The question that remains is: When? Then buyers of the main game should also be able to get started in the Epic Games Store.
