A new leak may reveal Avalanche Studios’ next game. The developers of Just Cause 4, Rage 2 and Generation Zero are therefore working on an open-world title that Ravenbound: Tales of Avalt should be called and should be knitted around roguelike elements.
The information comes from leaker Shaun Weber and was picked up by well-known insider Tom Henderson. We give you an idea of what to expect with Ravenbound.
Important: Since this is not official information, be sure to view the news with a reasonable dose of skepticism.
Speaking of skeptical: Despite several years of gaming experience, the unusual roguelike Inscryption was able to surprise GameStar editor-in-chief Heiko Klinge. And that’s despite the fact that he doesn’t really get anything else out of horror games. Have a listen:

This is how Ravenbound should be
In an article for Exputer.com Tom Henderson summarizes the details about Ravenbound: Tales of Avalt previously shared by Shaun Weber via Twitter. In addition to the bare data, Weber also provided screenshots that are said to come from Ravenbound:
- Third-person action game: Supposedly you control your character from the shoulder perspective through an open world. The images show a comic graphic style and well-known fantasy motifs.
- Story central element: Ravenbound is set to be driven by a story that puts you in the role of a knight tasked with liberating his homeland of Avalt from marauding invaders.
- Roguelike-Elemente: Like Dead Cells or Hades, you should have to start over every time you die. After each death, however, you should progress by being able to choose from several types of shape change. There will also be a variety of new weapons and skills to choose from. These are said to require different strategies to conquer the open world.
- Shapeshifting: You should slip into the form of a raven and be able to explore the game world flying. So you should also study the behavior patterns of enemy groups and develop the best strategy.
More essential details, such as a possible release period, cannot be found in the leak. Except for one thing: Allegedly Ravenbound: Tales of Avalt is already there in an advanced stage of development.
Time will tell whether an announcement will follow soon or whether the leak turns out to be untrue. In view of Henderson’s hitherto almost always reliable marksmanship, the chances of authenticity are not bad.
