The rumor mill has been suspecting for a while that the PC version of Final Fantasy XVI is not far off. Now there are concrete dates for the release and demo!
For several days now, there have been speculations that Final Fantasy XVI for PC will not be too far off after references to it appeared in a new driver from NVIDIA. The source code of one of the newer drivers explicitly mentioned executable files for Final Fantasy XVI and also a demo.
The confirmation came during a briefing ahead of the Gamescom appear ance. It was announced that Final Fantasy XVI will be playable via GeForce NOW, NVIDIA’s cloud gaming service, from its release on September 17th. The same applies to the demo of the game, which will be available on GeForce NOW from August 19th. The game will also be released on Steam and the Epic Game Store on September 17th.
It has been known for some time that a PC version and demo will be released, but there has been no specific date yet. The time of the game’s PS5 exclusivity is therefore coming to an end. The PC version is likely to come with the usual adjustments, such as unlocked refresh rates, widescreen formats, mouse/keyboard controls and various setting options. It is also likely that Final Fantasy XVI will be released as a complete edition with the two DLCs Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide.
It’s worth making a note of it, colleague Dennis was pretty enthusiastic in his review of Final Fantasy XVI: “A whopping 45 hours full of emotions, bombastic action and almost perfectly choreographed fights – you don’t get that every day. The new combat system in particular marks an immensely important step within the series for me, which I hope even die-hard fans can accept. Thanks to the numerous aids, no one should have a serious problem completing the game without frustration. Especially when you get the second and third Esper ability and can really turn it up, it’s a real joy to sweep the enemies off the screen.”
